Nighttime lights by country and state, monthly (NASA Black Marble)

Mean monthly nighttime radiance (nW/cm^2/sr) computed from NASA's Black Marble VNP46A3 satellite composite over each country and state/province — the classic satellite proxy for economic activity and electrification where official data is slow or absent. Asia-focus coverage (India, China, ASEAN, Korea, Japan, Taiwan and neighbors) at country and state level. Radiance is snow-free, all-angle composited; compare the same month across years — moonlight and atmospheric corrections make small month-to-month wiggles less meaningful than annual change.

In SQL, this dataset is the rows of satellite.series with dataset_code = 'satellite_nightlights'.
