NPCI Unified Payments Interface (UPI)

Monthly UPI statistics published by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), independently sourced under the RBI schema. National volume (million transactions), value (INR crore) and banks live; P2P/P2M; payer-attributed apps with separate B2C, B2B and on-us measures; merchant category codes; reported states/UTs and districts; top remitter/beneficiary banks and payer/payee PSP performance. Monthly dates are month-end. Counts and percentages retain source units and denominators; unavailable values are omitted, not zero. Totals begin April 2016; ecosystem histories differ by table and advertised archive availability. State-only and district rows remain separate; app renames are not reconciled. National totals exclude same-account debit/credit from August 2018. App raw totals must not be treated as the TPAP market-share denominator, which excludes cross-border and new/recent features. Performance percentages concern each member's attempts, with reversal success using reversal cases. This dataset overlaps RBI payment-system totals and must not be added to them. Source: https://www.npci.org.in/product/upi/product-statistics and https://www.npci.org.in/product/ecosystem-statistics/upi. AutoPay is catalogued separately as rbi-npci_autopay. Historical snapshots containing conflicting entity rows or invalid numeric values are quarantined, leaving explicitly reported gaps; incomplete runs retain failure status. Legacy June-November 2020 app volumes are separate measures. Also includes image-only monthly P2P/P2M amount bands (INR 0-500, 501-2000 and above 2000), printed band volume/value where available and within-type percentage shares. Rounded percentages are not converted into exact amounts. Daily totals, trended monthly averages, availability, IPO mandates, chargebacks and top-member volume/value are separate families.

In SQL, this dataset is the rows of rbi.series with dataset_code = 'rbi-npci_upi'.
