Maritime chokepoint transits, daily (IMF PortWatch, satellite AIS)

Daily vessel transit calls and trade capacity through 28 maritime chokepoints — Suez Canal, Panama Canal, Strait of Hormuz, Strait of Malacca, Bab el-Mandeb, Bosporus and more — derived from satellite AIS ship tracking by the IMF, from 2019 (weekly IMF refresh; data runs a few days to a week behind). Transit counts and estimated cargo capacity in metric tons, total and by vessel class (container, tanker, dry bulk, general cargo, ro-ro). The real-time signal for shipping disruptions: Red Sea diversions, canal droughts, strait closures.
