Time Use Survey (TUS 2019 and 2024)

Survey tables from MOSPI's Time Use Survey, which records how persons aged 6 years and above spend a day (24 hours from 4:00 AM). Two survey rounds: TUS 2019 (January-December 2019) and TUS 2024 (January-December 2024). Not a time series: each table is stored as rows in tabular_data, one series per table and state (series id mospi-tus:<table code>:<state>, for example mospi-tus:10:all_india), all-India only (the API serves no state breakdown), so there are 41 series, one per table. Tables (codes 4-44): percentage of persons taking part in each activity and minutes spent per participant or per person, by ICATUS activity, by major activity or irrespective of major activity; unpaid, paid and other activities; SNA, non-SNA and other activities; broken out by usual principal activity status, marital status, UMPCE quintile class, level of education, household social group, age group, place of activity and day of the week. Each row gives the table's own columns (sector, gender, age_group, activity or icatus_activity, day_of_week, ...), the survey year (2019 or 2024), the unit (% or mins) and the value as printed by MOSPI. The TUS 2024 rows of tables 4, 5, 6, 7, 32 and 33 come from MOSPI's own Excel tables (mospi.gov.in/sites/default/files/tus_2024/Appendix_A_Tables/t<N>.xlsx), because the API's figures for these tables differ from them; in these six tables a source column on each row names the Excel file or the API. Table 33 (2024) also has one line per sector and gender with icatus_activity 'percentage distribution of persons': the share of persons in each social group, not an activity; a note column on these rows says so. The TUS 2019 rounds of tables 4 and 33 are not stored, because the API's figures differ from the printed report. A cell printed as - (data not available) has no row. Query with SQL on tabular_data.row_data, for example row_data->>'year' = '2024'.

In SQL, this dataset is the rows of mospi.series with dataset_code = 'mospi_tus'.
