India Labour Bureau price and wage indices (CPI-IW detail, Wage Rate Index, state and all-India CPI-AL/RL 1986-87)

Indices published by the Labour Bureau, Government of India. Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW, base 2016=100, monthly from September 2020): group indices for 88 centres (food & beverages, pan/supari/tobacco, clothing & footwear, housing, fuel & light, miscellaneous), sub-group indices for each centre (for example cereals, vegetables, health, education), and all-India indices for 465 retail items (for example mospi-labourbureau:cpiiw_2016_item_cereals-and-products_rice). Wage Rate Index (base 2016=100, as on 1 January and 1 July, 2016 onward) for all sectors, the manufacturing, mining and plantation sectors and 37 industries (mospi-labourbureau:wri_2016_sector_all-sector). CPI for agricultural and rural labourers on base 1986-87=100 for 20 states, monthly July 1999 to May 2025 (mospi-labourbureau:cpial_1986-87_<state>, cpirl_1986-87_<state>); the RBI dataset rbi-prices_wages keeps only November 1995 to June 1999 of these state series, because its copy differed from these in 1,937 of 12,440 state-month rows (1,340 exactly 2x, 576 another month's value, 21 other); 236 of the differing rows were checked against printed sources and all agree with the Labour Bureau. The all-India CPI-AL and CPI-RL on base 1986-87=100, monthly July 1999 to May 2025 (mospi-labourbureau:cpial_1986-87_all-india, cpirl_1986-87_all-india), with all-India group indices for food; pan, supari, tobacco and intoxicants; fuel and light; clothing, bedding and footwear; and miscellaneous (for example mospi-labourbureau:cpial_1986-87_all-india_food); the RBI copy of the all-India general index differed in 8 of 311 months for each index, and the RBI dataset keeps only November 1995 to June 1999 of it. Item indices printed as 0.0 by the source (no price quotation that month, for example Mango in January 2026; 567 rows) are not stored. The CPI-IW general index by centre and the all-India CPI-IW are in the RBI dataset rbi-prices_wages; CPI-AL/RL on base 2019 is mospi_cpialrl.
