Gulf crude output recovers in June 2026 but stays far below February

Persian Gulf crude output rose to 18.45 million barrels a day (mb/d) in June 2026 from 14.56 mb/d in May. That is still about 9 mb/d below February's 27.44 mb/d, so global supply remains tight.

Gulf production is recovering, but most of the lost output has not come back

The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) publishes monthly oil production data by country and region. It shows how much crude oil is reaching world markets. Output fell from March onward, in line with the Iran war.
  • Persian Gulf crude: 18.45 million barrels a day (mb/d) in June, up from 14.56 mb/d in May.
  • February, before the war: 27.44 mb/d.

Saudi Arabia is still well short of its pre-war output

Saudi crude production rose to 7.29 mb/d in June, up from 6.63 mb/d in May. In February it was 10.76 mb/d.

World supply rose in June but remains well below February

  • World crude: 78.37 mb/d in June, up from 73.99 mb/d in May. February: 86.78 mb/d.
  • World petroleum and other liquids: 99.48 mb/d in June, up from 94.54 mb/d. February: 108.72 mb/d. This wider total adds natural gas plant liquids and other liquid fuels to crude oil.

Outside the Gulf, US crude output held steady at 13.79 mb/d.

Figures for earlier months and for 2025 changed only slightly

  • Estimates for March to May changed only a little. The largest change was a cut of roughly 0.12 mb/d to the March world total.
  • US crude output for 2025 was raised to 13.66 mb/d from 13.59 mb/d. The 2024 figure is 13.23 mb/d.
  • That revision lifted world liquids output for 2025 to 106.30 mb/d from 106.17 mb/d.
  • US consumption totals for 2025 were also revised up a little.
  • India's 2025 liquids output went to 988.5 thousand barrels a day (kb/d) from 990.3 kb/d.

About FactIQ and these updates

  • What FactIQ is. FactIQ is a database of official statistics from government agencies, central banks and international organisations in the US, China, India, Europe and elsewhere. AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT connect to it to look up the exact figures and cite the agency that published them. It also holds what companies report in their filings and say on their earnings calls.
  • How an update is made. When Energy Information Administration publishes new figures, FactIQ loads them and an AI model writes a short summary of what changed. Before it is published, code checks that every number in the summary matches FactIQ's record of the release, and a second review checks that nothing is overstated. Values that look like errors in the source data are left out.
  • Where the numbers come from. Each key figure links to the full series, with its source, units and history.
