Several banks said their net interest margins widened in the third quarter of 2026

Net interest margin (NIM) is the gap between what a bank earns on loans and investments and what it pays for funding. These results come from Form 8-K filings, the filings a US company makes to report a material event.
  • HomeTrust Bancshares said its NIM expanded to 4.46%, sustaining momentum from the first half of the year.
  • Bridgewater Bancshares said its NIM expanded to 3.09% as loan and investment securities portfolios grew and repriced at higher yields.
  • QCR Holdings said its tax-equivalent NIM expanded 3 basis points, a unit for small rate changes, from the second quarter of 2026, exceeding guidance. It expects the Federal Reserve's September rate increase to be slightly accretive to near-term NIM because assets reprice faster than deposits.
  • Metropolitan Commercial Bank attributed NIM increases partly to higher loan and securities yields and lower funding costs.
  • Community Trust Bancorp said its NIM declined quarter over quarter and rose year over year.

Several banks said rising rates reduced the value of their securities

  • Orrstown Financial Services said its net unrealized investment securities losses increased by $41.6 million because of widening spreads and rising interest rates.
  • QCR Holdings said accumulated other comprehensive income, a part of equity that records unrealized gains and losses on securities, fell by $19.4 million as rates rose.
  • Capital City Bank Group reported a $14.0 million unfavorable accumulated other comprehensive loss change from higher bond rates.
  • HomeTrust Bancshares said its accumulated other comprehensive income declined by $4.0 million.

Four companies reported share repurchases

  • OFG Bancorp repurchased $13.5 million of common shares.
  • Healthcare Services Group repurchased $11.7 million of common stock in the third quarter under its $75.0 million plan through January 2027.
  • QCR Holdings repurchased $9.5 million of common stock in the third quarter of 2026.
  • HomeTrust Bancshares completed its existing program and authorized repurchases of an additional 5% of outstanding shares, citing excess capital.

Other companies reported revenue declines, credit changes and a recovery

  • Winnebago Industries said its fiscal 2026 revenue and its fourth-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue declined, primarily because of lower unit volume. It extended its revolving credit facility through 2031 and increased its quarterly dividend.
  • Integra LifeSciences said amended covenants temporarily raise its maximum net leverage ratio before scheduled step-downs to 4.25x during 2027.
  • Healthcare Services Group recorded an estimated $6.1 million recovery following developments in the Genesis bankruptcy case.

About FactIQ and these updates

  • What FactIQ is. FactIQ is a database of official statistics from government agencies, central banks and international organisations in the US, China, India, Europe and elsewhere. AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT connect to it to look up the exact figures and cite the agency that published them. It also holds what companies report in their filings and say on their earnings calls.
  • How an update is made. FactIQ reads each new earnings call or filing and stores the statements with numbers, each with the exact quote it came from. An AI model then writes a short summary of those statements. Before it is published, code checks that every number in the summary matches a stored statement, and a second review checks that nothing is overstated or presented as fact when the company only expects it.
  • What this is not. The figures are what each company said or filed. FactIQ does not rate companies or recommend shares.
